Orthopedic Physical Therapy
Although we put the word “Sports” in our company name when we opened our first physical therapy clinic more than 40 years ago, the vast majority of our patients come from general orthopedic injuries in Kansas City. We use a team approach to rehabilitate anything from sprained ankles to broken bones, low back to joint replacements, and everything in between. We see a variety of ages and ability levels, and will tailor your treatment to your goals. With each patient we create an individualized rehab program that may include, aquatic physical therapy, manual therapy (hands-on mobilizations to increase range of motion) and modalities. Our emphasis throughout rehabilitation will be to engage each patient in functional exercises, so they can return to their activities in daily life.
Aquatic physical therapy
Our pool is located in Building II of the Corporate Medical Plaza in Overland Park, just across the parking lot from our clinic. If the evaluating therapist and physician decide aquatic therapy is appropriate for you as a patient, you will participate in 40 minutes of aquatic therapy in addition to your "land" therapy. Aquatic therapy has been shown to accelerate the traditional rehab process, including increasing strength, range of motion, and endurance. Common diagnoses benefiting from aquatic therapy include, but are not limited to, joint replacements, low back pain, muscle strains, and ACL reconstruction.
Occupational and Hand Therapy
Our goal is to allow each patient to regain the maximum functional use of their hand. To achieve this goal, our experienced Hand Therapists incorporate individual care with manual therapy, exercises, custom static and dynamic splinting and home exercise programs. Common diagnosis that benefit from Hand Therapy include:

Carpal tunnel syndrome
Arthritis
Fractures
Tendon lacerations
Nerve injuries
Burns
Dupytren’s Contracture
Vestibular Rehabilitation
We provide treatment for vertigo, dizziness, balance disorders and for post concussion symptoms and management. We use a variety of techniques for your eyes, ears, brain and balance systems to help retrain them to fully alleviate or help reduce your symptoms so that you can return to sport, work and everyday function safely and quickly. Common conditions we are able to treat include BPPV, vestibular hypofunction, Meniere's disease and post-concussion syndrome among others.
Sports Performance
Sports Rehab specializes in the care and treatment of athletes at every level in the Kansas City area. We will work with the athlete from initial injury through return to play, including strength, endurance, agility, and coordination drills. Our goal is to get the athlete back to their desired level of play as quickly and safely as possible.
Back Pain
Physical therapy plays a significant role in the return to pain-free activities of daily living following back and neck pain. We use our progressive functional approach with patients in the Kansas City area who are suffering from both long standing conditions such as a cervical strain, chronic low back pain or herniated disk, as well as more acute conditions such as whip lash. Whether the patient is suffering from acute pain, chronic irritation, or post operative symptoms, our staff provides individualized rehabilitation emphasizing manual therapy and functional exercises.

If you've been injured on the job in Kansas City, we are here to help. After an evaluation and referral from your physician and case manager, we will work with you to get you back to your job as quickly and efficiently as possible. We work with a variety of worker's compensation insurances and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
